Promote a community-based, multi-pronged approach to strengthen conservation in Peru’s Colán Mountain Range by establishing a community-managed conservation concession. The project will increase production of cacao agroforestry to maintain connectivity between forest fragments in Awajún indigenous communities, develop a participatory zoning plan for the Cordillera de Colán National Shrine, and improve monitoring in the Copallín Communal Private Conservation Area.
Strategic Direction:
1 Improve protection and management of 36 priority KBAs to create and maintain local support for conservation and to mitigate key threats.
