The Botanical Society of South Africa will work with the provincial land management agency of the province of KwaZulu-Natal, Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife, and volunteers from the Custodians of Rare and Endangered Wildflowers (CREW) to facilitate the stewardship process on privately owned plots of land totaling 12,000 hectares. This includes South Coast grassland and Mistbelt grassland habitat that is the breeding ground of wattled crane, oribi, cycads, and the Hilton daisy (Gerbera aurantiaca). The team will work with land owners, conduct biodiversity site assessments, and contribute to the ultimate designation of these areas as provincial nature reserves.
