Protecting these last inhabited rat-free islands of Rimatara and Ua Huka with biosecurity measures in wharves by training of Site Support Groups (SSG) established. The islands are habitats for the globally threatened birds of French Polynesia, the Ultramarine and Rimatara Lorikeets. Promotion of eco-tourism by the SSG is supporting conservation programs on the islands as well as community livelihoods.
