Validate the occurrence of all literature-listed globally threatened (i.e., Critically Endangered, Endangered and Vulnerable) and endemic species of flora and fauna in Malawi’s Zomba Mountains Key Biodiversity Area (KBA) by carrying out targeted surveys for those species. The project will update the current biological priority status of the KBA from 4 to either 2 or 1; assess key threats to the ecosystem and threatened species found there; and recommend an improved and effective management and monitoring plan.
Strategic Direction:
2 Improve the protection and management of the KBA network throughout the hotspot.
