To ensure the effective participation of local communities in the recently initiated Lake Tanganyika Sustainable Development Project (LTDP), partly funded by GEF. The LTDP aims to develop a Land Use Plan for Tondwa GMA, conduct a Law Enforcement review and consequent Strategic Law enforcement Plan (SLEP) for both Tondwa GMA and Nsumbu NP, and finally contribute towards a General Management Plan (GMP) for Nsumbu NP. CLT will add value to this larger initiative by strengthening the role of village action groups (VAGs) in the LTDP through local consultations, agreements on local demarcations, and inclusion of local community considerations in the final LTDP documents.

Strategic Direction: 1 Mainstream biodiversity into wider development policies, plans and projects to deliver the co-benefits of biodiversity conservation, improved local livelihoods and economic development in priority corridors.
