Increase the knowledge about freshwater species in the transboundary Buna River Protected Landscape and Bojana Delta by conducting research on the Critically Endangered and Endangered fish species. Prepare a situation analysis on the critically endangered species Adriatic sturgeon, Acipenser naccarii, and implement conservation actions to improve the freshwater ecosystem. Build capacities of local authorities and civil society organizations in Albania and Montenegro.

This project benefits from a co-founding by the Donor Initiative for Mediterranean Freshwater Ecosystems (DIMFE).

Strategic Direction: 2 Support the sustainable management of water catchments through integrated approaches for the conservation of threatened freshwater biodiversity
